Poppies have always been present in my life - they are my Mum’s favourite. Red is everywhere in her house and one of my early prints was a poppy print, which I made for Mother’s Day.

After a trip to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park years ago, I came across the work of Peter Randall-page - an exploration of pods and seeds in sculpture and drawing. Since then, I’ve found seed pods fascinating.

During lockdown, I realised how utterly vital it was for me to be by the sea because there was a long stretch of time when I couldn’t go there and my depression took a massive hit. This was when I realised that I wanted to make artwork that reflected my need for and relationship with the seaside.
